Esther Chan is an assistant professor of sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She received her Ph.D. in sociology at Yale. Prior to pursuing her doctoral work at Yale, she worked at the RPLP as a post-baccalaureate fellow. Her research interrogates dimensions of religion, race, gender identity, and sexuality in different institutions, such as higher education and in areas of science and medicine. Drawing on qualitative and quantitative methods, she has published in Public Understandings of Science, Ethnic and Racial Studies, and the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion.
