For many, work is the single largest time commitment in life. And for many, faith and church community are the most meaningful commitments in life. Understanding how people integrate these two facets of life is the core purpose of a new study called “Faith at Work,” led by Prof. Elaine Howard Ecklund of Rice University and Prof. Denise Daniels of Seattle Pacific University. During this Religion and Public Life Program event, cosponsored with the Veritas Forum, Ecklund and Daniels presented an overview of initial findings, including how people understand calling in relationship to work and the ways that people do (or do not) integrate faith with work. Following their presentation Eric Mingle, a Veritas Forum Fellow, moderated a conversation between Ecklund and Daniels to further illuminate findings as well as the associated opportunities for and challenges in faith-work integration. The event was held on April 10, 2019 on Rice University campus.
